Grind coffee beans to fine grind for espresso.
Measure 14 to 18 g of coffee for a double shot.
Fill the portafilter with coffee and tamp it.
Pull a double shot on the espresso machine.
Heat the water to between 160°F and 170°F.
Pour the espresso into a mug and top it with water.
