Twisted Tea started in 2001 and is owned by the Boston Beer Company, the guys who are behind Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Angry Orchard's Hard Cider, and Truly Hard Seltzer. 

The goal when creating Twisted Tea was to create a tea made of the flavors we love to mix in a glass of iced tea in the summer with an added twist of the kick of alcohol.

The result was the Twisted Tea Original Hard Iced Tea. It tastes like real sweet iced tea with a little bit of alcohol mixed in.

Twisted Tea was in the press in 2021. The brand went viral after getting large amounts of press after a man named Barry Allen struck another man over the head with a can of Twisted Tea in defense of racist comments.

The incident was recorded by customers and showed the man making obscene comments to Barry Allen as well as the workers at a convenience store.

The incident created a massive buzz around the brand that labeled Allen as the TeaKO Slugger. Allen and his wife attempted to obtain sponsorship from the company but were denied.
