Coffee is literally water run through ground-up beans. Coffee is a natural drink with little to no fiddling from man. Diet soda has water in it, but everything else is manmade and imparts no significant nutritional value.

By now, I think it’s pretty clear that coffee is healthier than soda. Even diet soda! There is an increasing body of evidence showing that coffee has health benefits where soda has nothing but health disadvantages galore.
Diabetes, heart disease, and even decreased brain functions can all happen with as little as one soda per day. On the flip side, a cup of black coffee a day can increase your energy, help you lose weight, and keep your brain sharp as a whip.
A Word Of Caution On Additives
So, I’ve proven that coffee is healthier than soda, but I’ve been talking strictly of black coffee. What about those of us who love some sweetness in our Joe?
This is where many people go wrong. You can remove the benefits of coffee by adding too much to it. In fact, you can turn this healthy beverage into a harmful one if you go overboard.
It’s okay to add some enhancers to your coffee each day. But they should be enhancers and not total cover-ups. What I mean is that by dumping 10 teaspoons of sugar in 8 ounces of black coffee, you might as well just drink a soda.
Keep your additives to a minimum. Focus on the healthier choices based on your diet and your body’s needs. For me, I love a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream and some cocoa powder in my coffee.
